ReportsNowTM on World®Data Access Studio™ (DAS) is designed for the JD Edwards World® system. This means you will have to spend less time setting up DAS and more time deriving benefit. This document outlines how DAS integrates with World®.
Data Access Studio Web Server
The Data Access Studio Web server lets you deploy DAS to your enterprise via the Web. Web clients just need a browser and the .Net framework (which is typically already installed with Windows). Administration is a breeze because you only have to maintain the DAS Web Server (applying packages or software patches).
The DAS Web Server has other architectural advantages. First, the user interface is identical to a Full client interface. This means no re-training. Next, DAS utilizes the memory and processing power of the client machine. This means that a large query will not bog down your web server. The hit of the large row set will be taken by the client machine that issued the query. Workstation
You can also install Data Access Studio to a Windows workstation to access World® data. World®
Data Access Studio access the World data (using the World business unit security, read-only security, and application-level security.)
During the initial install, Data Access Studio creates one file on your World system: FDASPROP in the same library as your F0094. The FDASPROP is where Data Access Studio stores all layouts and report formats (never the data returned from queries -- only the formatting of the data.)
With this architecture, you do not have to worry about maintaining an additional database. Furthermore, the FDASPROP will be automatically a part of your existing AS400 backups. |
